Inside NOT A HOTEL’s Bold New Tokyo Headquarters: Art, Design, and The NIGO Lounge

NOT A HOTEL Unveils a Visionary Headquarters in Tokyo
NOT A HOTEL has officially opened its new headquarters in Harumi, Tokyo—a spacious, warehouse-style venue that challenges conventional office design. Though the company operates primarily under a remote-work model, this physical location, dubbed the NOT A HOTEL OFFICE, is crafted as both a central hub and an experimental space for innovation and creativity.Designed for Flexibility and Inspiration
The interior was conceptualized by NOT A HOTEL ARCHITECTS, delivering a flexible, adaptive layout that includes a range of workspaces, meeting areas, and event zones. The design reflects the brand’s ethos of “living anywhere,” encouraging spontaneous collaboration and inventive thinking among team members. The NIGO Lounge: An Exclusive Experience
A highlight of the new headquarters is The NIGO Lounge, a private, members-only event space curated by world-renowned designer and creative director NIGO®. This unique area is available exclusively to NOT A HOTEL property owners and is limited to one group per day, ensuring a deeply personal experience.Equipped with advanced smokeless yakiniku grills and a full back kitchen, the lounge is ideal for intimate gatherings. NIGO’s distinct aesthetic is on full display, particularly through the centerpiece: a monumental U-shaped shelving wall made from 284 units of the USM Haller modular system—a signature of his design style.
Historic Design Meets Contemporary Culture
Adding to the space’s character is a rare 1944 Jean Prouvé 6×6 Demountable House, imported from France and furnished with original French modernist pieces. This architectural artifact serves as a tangible nod to minimalist design and offers a glimpse into NOT A HOTEL’s refined taste and philosophy.A Central Space for Work and Community
The heart of the office is a striking 15-meter-long wooden table, paired with Cassina black block stools from a collaboration with the late Virgil Abloh. This shared table doubles as a workspace and a social nucleus, emphasizing the brand’s commitment to community and interaction. The building also houses 36 free-address desks, four sound-insulated quiet pods, and a meeting area outfitted with a dark gray kitchen featuring high-end appliances identical to those in NOT A HOTEL properties. The consistent attention to detail creates a seamless brand experience across work and leisure environments.
Where Work Meets Curated Culture
Blending the practical with the artistic, the NOT A HOTEL OFFICE functions as both a working environment and a curated gallery space. NIGO’s personal collection of rare objects and the inclusion of playful PRATONE lounge chairs further distinguish this headquarters as a cultural statement. Every element—from layout to furnishings—exemplifies NOT A HOTEL’s progressive approach to blending hospitality with work-life balance. This new Tokyo base is more than just an office; it’s a bold declaration of how design, exclusivity, and innovation can redefine the future of work.
