MoMA Opens Its First-Ever Bookstore in Seoul

A Landmark Cultural Collaboration

The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York has officially opened the world’s first MoMA Bookstore in Seoul, South Korea. The project marks a milestone in a 20-year partnership with Hyundai Card and highlights Seoul’s rapid rise as a global hub for art and culture.

A Curated Space for Art Lovers

Situated in Apgujeong’s Dosan Park, the bookstore offers a carefully curated collection of more than 1,100 titles. The selection includes exclusive exhibition catalogues, books on contemporary art, photography, and design, along with MoMA’s own publications.

Unlike past MoMA retail concepts, this location is dedicated solely to books. Visitors will also find design objects and lifestyle goods from the MoMA Design Store, along with museum-branded merchandise such as New Era caps, varsity sweaters, and limited-edition collectibles.

Strengthening Global Connections

The collaboration between MoMA and Hyundai Card dates back to 2006 and has grown into a broader cultural exchange program. One example is the “Hyundai Card MoMA Digital Wall” in Seoul, which streams digital works shown in New York in real time—linking the two cultural capitals.

The opening of the MoMA Bookstore underscores the museum’s mission to expand its global reach and confirms Seoul as a city at the forefront of contemporary creativity.
