Vikki Kokuzian = Alchemized Success
Written by Will Jones
The former WGN Radio traffic anchor brings a background in finance, market expertise, and personal resilience to Chicago’s luxury condo market.
For half a decade, Chicago commuters heard Vikki Kokuzian deliver morning traffic reports on WGN Radio 720. Behind that familiar voice, she was building her real estate business that began after her own plans for the future fell apart.
Today, Chicago’s very own is a managing broker associate at Compass Chicago and is the CEO of Vikki Kokuzian Real Estate. A licensed Realtor for almost 20 years, she specializes in downtown luxury condos, particularly representing sellers.
Her career brings together financial experience, communicative integrity, and relationships developed over two decades in Chicago media.
A Called-Off Wedding
In her late 20s, Kokuzian was engaged to a high-profile business owner. His plan was for her to retain a real estate license so they could reinvest in future projects together within his industry. Four months before the wedding, the engagement ended, leaving her facing uncertainty about her life, finances, and a future that was predestined for comfort and growth. She describes the pain as the catalyst for her “alchemization”: learning to survive and build her own future instead of living in the shadow of someone else’s dreams. Rebuilding required her to develop a livelihood so she could direct herself and be proactive in the direction of her future.
That experience informs her message of generational tenacity and survival. Rooted in faith, she believes God can use experiences that make someone question themselves and break internally to prepare them to become stronger, more resilient, and more strategic.
First Generation American & Chicagoan
Born and raised in the West Ridge Neighborhood of Chicago, Kokuzian began her professional life as a financial analyst working with multiple S&P 500 brokers at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange at the age of 17.At the same time, Vikki recorded her album and worked with multiple well-known producers/songwriters while studying at Columbia College of Chicago. Given her love and dedication to music, she landed a job at 103.5 KISS FM.
Her broadcast career grew to include rush-hour reporting across Clear Channel stations and television traffic production for Fox 32’s Good Day Chicago, where she became the fill-in traffic reporter in 2012. She joined the WGN Morning News production team in 2019 after 2 complicated pregnancies that required hospitalization for the full term with both her son and daughter, and became WGN Radio’s primary morning traffic anchor in August 2020, appearing on the Bob Sirott and John Williams shows.
Across those years, she developed her real estate business alongside broadcasting. Her financial background, experience communicating with Chicago audiences, and lifelong familiarity with the city now inform her work with clients.
The Relationships Behind the Listings
During her previous tenure at Coldwell Banker, Kokuzian ranked among the top 10 Realtors in its Global Luxury Gold Coast office and was inducted into its Diamond Society.Vikki capitalizes on the price points over $850K and has a track record from the lake shore to the north shore. Her expertise also includes desirable finishes, design trends, and culinary experiences across Chicago’s neighborhoods.
She describes her approach as soft but fierce, combining care for clients with determined advocacy for their goals. She reports that 90% of her business comes through past clients/referrals.
For Kokuzian, the biggest challenge in business is misalignment between people. “If you are not respected and understood by the person you are doing business with, it will never work,” she says.
Building a Future for Her Kids
In late 2024, Kokuzian left WGN to focus on real estate and spend more time with her children. The departure brought nearly two decades in broadcasting to a close, giving her more room for the business she had built alongside it.The real estate license once intended for shared investments became the basis of a career she built herself. Her work now reflects the priorities that emerged from rebuilding: independence, integrity, and meaningful relationships. Those same values guide a business centered on helping clients pursue their own real estate dreams.
