STUDIO GIMGEOSIL Crafts a “Sanctuary of Natural Elegance” for Palo Verde Aesthetic
Seoul-based design firm STUDIO GIMGEOSIL has unveiled its latest project, Palo Verde Aesthetic, a beauty clinic located in Seodaemun-gu. The 80-square-meter clinic has been envisioned as a “Sanctuary of Natural Elegance,” drawing inspiration from the Palo verde tree and its symbolism of resilience, growth, and renewal.
A Nature-Inspired Design
Under the direction of lead architect YongChul Kim, the design embraces a warm and grounding material palette of soft greens, sandy neutrals, and timber accents. Walls finished with troweled plaster and honed limestone flooring reflect the bark and foliage of the Palo verde, creating a tranquil, desert-inspired atmosphere.
Spatial Flow and Privacy
The clinic’s layout unfolds like a natural progression. Visitors are welcomed into a reception alcove before being guided to private treatment rooms and a serene lounge. Curved partitions, recessed niches, and built-in benches enhance privacy while maintaining a clean, uncluttered feel. A skylit central corridor and living green wall invite natural light and botanical elements inside, blurring the line between interior and nature.
Lighting and Furnishings
Lighting design plays a crucial role in the calming ambience. Soft, diffused LEDs hidden within ceiling coves bathe the clinic in a warm glow, while spotlights accentuate features like bespoke wood shelving and a sculptural stone washbasin. The furniture, selected for its organic shapes and tactile finishes, adds to the understated sophistication.
A Space for Renewal
The result is an elegantly restrained environment where visitors can disconnect from the bustle of the city and rejuvenate in a setting inspired by nature. By translating the vitality of the Palo verde tree into architectural form, STUDIO GIMGEOSIL has crafted a space that embodies both aesthetic refinement and emotional comfort.
